Critical Reviews of
Christian Educational
Curriculum Resources

For use in a Local Congregation

By Students of
Religious Education

This site provides access to reviews of curriculum resources for the local Christian congregation written by students in a course at Emory University's Candler School of Theology entitled "Religious Education as Formation and Transformation." Many of the reviews make use of theoretical materials used in that course, but all are intended to be written in such a way that any interested reader might gain a sense of the intentions and character of the resource and one reviewer's assessment of its value.

The reviews are organized by category, as listed to the right, according to the topic which the material intends to help a teacher address in some teaching context. In many of these reviews, as in the course, "teacher" is understood broadly as one who has leadership responsibility for helping others to learn. "Teaching context" is also to be understood broadly as any context where one intends learning to happen. All the reviews focus on the usefulness of the resource within the general context of a local Christian congregation. Some of the materials reviewed have a particular denominational focus, some do not.

The categories have been created as a way of organizing the reviews and are intended to help users of this site find reviews of materials directed toward various specific groups and/or topical concerns. Reviews may appear under more than one category.

Feedback about this site or suggestions of materials to review may be sent to: tbrelsf@emory.edu.
