Candler's Program of Black Church Studies seeks to offer significant leadership in the creation of a more just nation and world by calling our institution to greater engagement with peoples of African descent in America, Africa, and the Diaspora. It provides counsel and advice to black students and serves as a liaison to black graduates.
The Black Church has long been the custodian of many of America's most holistic values. The Program of Black Church Studies bears witness to these values by drawing on the broad spectrum that is black religion. It also works to establish liberating resources for the African American community, Africa, the Diaspora, and the interracial community of hope.
