The Teaching Parish program enables United Methodist students appointed to student pastorates to meet in geographically located reflection groups. The program is a cooperative venture between Candler and the North Georgia, South Georgia, North Alabama, Alabama/West Florida, and South Carolina Annual Conferences of the United Methodist Church. Normally, only those students who are certified candidates for ordained United Methodist ministry are considered for appointment.
Students may enroll into the Teaching Parish Program, in lieu of the Contextual Education Program. After the second year, students may enroll each semester for one credit hour of Teaching Parish (four hours maximum). A maximum of ten credit hours is granted for the Teaching Parish Program.
