Auditing Program

Through the auditing program, laity, clergy and Candler alumni may participate in one to two Candler courses per semester at a reduced fee ($25 application fee; $200 registration fee). Those wishing to receive continuing education units may pay an additional fee and receive nonacademic continuing education units at a fee of $25 per unit. Participation is limited based on space availability and individual approval by the director of lifelong learning and the course instructor. Applications must be received one month prior to the semester start date.

Persons preparing for ordination in the United Methodist Church may take courses for academic credit as a special standing/non-degree student and pay the related tuition and fees.  For information on the application process and cost of attendance, contact the Office of Admissions. For course schedules, contact the Office of the Registrar.

Application Process:

  1. Examine the current course schedule.
  2. Please fill in the appropriate editable form below. After you have filled in the information online print the form and mail it with your application fee. Complete the application, providing as much information as possible. The name of a personal reference is required. The information provided will enable the director and the instructor to make their admission decision. Mail the completed application and a nonrefundable $25 application fee made payable to Emory University to the Office of Lifelong Learning according to the deadlines listed below.
    Fall Semester: August 1
    Spring Semester: December 1
    Summer Session: May 1
  3. Upon receipt of the application, the director will review the application and forward it to the instructor. Applicants will receive notification of admission within 30 days.

Registration Process:

The registration fee will be due one week prior to the beginning of the course. If the fee is not received by the first class meeting, admission will be canceled. See Fees sections for specific fee information.

Course Completion:

  1. Two weeks prior to the end of the semester, an evaluation form will be sent to the instructor. The instructor will then send the completed evaluation form to the Office of Lifelong Learning.
  2. If CEU credit is to be received, the student will receive a letter from the University Registrar's Office within 30 days after completion of the course confirming course completion and earned Continuing Education Units.

Withdrawal:

If a student must withdraw at any point during the course, he or she shall submit a letter to the Director of Lifelong Learning indicating the reason. The director will inform the instructor of the student's withdrawal.

Fees: (Made payable to Emory University)

Application: $25 (nonrefundable)
Registration: $175 (nonrefundable after the first week of class)
Credit (if desired): $25 per CEU (nonrefundable after the first week of class)
three hour semester course: 3 hours = 4 CEU's
two hour semester course: 2 hours = 3 CEU's
