2009 Holy Land Pilgrimage for Pastoral Renewal
2009 Holy Land Pilgrimage for Pastoral Renewal sponsored by Candler School of Theology will provide pastors a unique opportunity to experience as pilgrims a land called holy, set apart by the life and ministry of Jesus. A program of pastoral renewal and spiritual formation, the Holy Land Pilgrimage is designed to strengthen pastoral leadership through
- a deepened understanding of the life and ministry of Jesus Christ and the importance of context in the formation and transformation of ministry
- an enhancement of imagination and personal engagement of Scripture as embodied in preaching and teaching
- a commitment to regular, ongoing accountability and support among clergy peers for mutual processing and growth of life and ministry together
- renewal of pastoral calling by attention to personal Sabbath practices and worship
Through the generous vision of the Cousins Foundation Holy Land Institute, Candler School of Theology Holy Land Pilgrimage for Pastoral Renewal will be made available to twenty pastors
- between the ages of 35 and 55
- with at least five years of pastoral ministry experience
- currently serving as the senior or associate minister of a congregation
- committed to personal spiritual renewal and its benefits for the congregations they lead and the broader ministry of the Church
Preference will be given to persons who have not been to Israel. Once accepted into this program, pilgrims agree to pay a non-refundable $300 pilgrimage fee and commit to full participation in the pilgrimage, including the pre and post pilgrimage seminars.
Pre-Pilgrimage Seminar: April 27 - 29, 2009
Pilgrimage: April 29 - May 13, 2009
Post-Pilgrimage Seminar: July 6 - 8, 2009
All travel to and from Atlanta, and to and from Israel, will be arranged through Academy Travel and paid for by the HL Institute. All lodging, meals, admissions, and tips are provided as well.
