Women in Theology and Ministry
Candler’s Program of Women in Theology and Ministry prepares women to provide transformative leadership in the church and the broader community. The program seeks to fulfill this purpose through:
- Assisting in vocational discernment and development of professional identity and leadership abilities
- Fostering an intellectual community for women students and alumnae
- Encouraging creative and constructive scholarship about women and religion.
- Advocating for women’s issues in the church and world
The WTM program fosters a community of learning for students and alumna through the certificate program, lifelong educational offerings, special events, and opportunities for service and leadership. The WTM program provides support for students and alumnae serving in both lay and ordained ministries in diverse settings. Students also have the opportunity to explore various paths of ministry, including specialized ministries such as chaplaincy or campus ministry, or discover a spiritual or vocational journey still unfolding.
Certificate in Women, Theology, and Ministry
The Certificate Program allows Candler students an opportunity for in-depth study of the impact of gender on church and society and explicit focus on issues relevant to women in theology and ministry through:
- Specific course offerings
- Focused Contextual Education Offerings
- Small group reflection
- Counsel and conversation with the program director
- Special opportunities for interaction with women faculty
- An annual retreat
- Women’s Forum Lectures
- Use of WTM Resource Center and Helen Burch Pearson Library
