Alumni & Friends

At the Heart of Emory

The first school established at Emory University more than a century ago, Candler School of Theology still lies at the heart of Emory University’s commitments, campus, and legacy. In turn, the university creates a remarkable environment for shaping faithful and creative leaders for the church’s ministries throughout the world.

We’re proud of our 8,400 alumni living around the world. They make a positive difference in communities and churches every day, following their call and applying their gifts in endless directions. We also couldn’t fulfill our mission without their support and that of our other friends, whose generous gifts of time, talent, and treasure we rely on every day. With grateful hearts, we thank you!

If you’ve earned your master’s degree and are interested in pursuing another degree, consider Candler’s 90% online Doctor of Ministry or a Master of Theology. Learn more about our degrees.

The Candler Foundry offers theological explorations to help individuals grow in their biblical, theological, and spiritual knowledge. It makes theological education accessible outside of Candler’s formal degree programs and in formats that are engaging and relevant to broader audiences, including ordained clergy, laity of all denominations, and those just curious about faith. From one-time events to certificate courses, online and in-person, The Candler Foundry has a wide variety of offerings, topics, and formats. Learn more.

Individuals not seeking a degree may audit a select number of Candler courses via Candler Course Access (CCA), administered by The Candler Foundry.

CCA students are admitted after completing a brief application process and receiving individual approval through the registrar’s office and by the academic dean. Participation is limited based on space availability. CCA participants are active observers in the class, with the ability to attend class meetings, engage in classroom discussion, and access course materials, but they do not have individual access to faculty and they do not submit coursework for evaluation.

The CCA fee is $399 for 3 credit hours and is payable upon approval of application. Application deadlines are August 1 for Fall Semester, December 1 for Spring Semester, and May 1 for Summer Term. Contact The Candler Foundry for more information.

Just as we help our students discern and answer their callings, Candler Career Services also helps to guide alumni on their vocational and professional paths.

We support our alumni with access to our job board, professional development and job search resources, and more. Learn more about what Candler Career Services offers alumni.
