Academic Programs

Class lecture by Candler Professor Brent Strawn.

Shaped by its mission to educate faithful and creative leaders for the church's ministries in the world, Candler's degree programs seek to integrate the intellectual, personal, professional, and spiritual growth of students.

Candler has long been known for its challenging academics—for making students think deeply and study hard. Why do we think this is so important? Because the better grounded our students are in the fundamentals of theology, ethics, and the history of the church, the better prepared they will be for actual ministry. In short, rigorous study fosters the development of faithful and creative leaders for the church’s ministries in the world.

As one recent graduate said, “I came to Candler because I wanted to be challenged so I would be prepared for the challenges of leading in the local church. I wanted to feel prepared to be the best minister I could be.”
