New Student Orientation

New Student Orientation

“Other seed fell into good soil and brought forth grain, growing up and increasing… a hundredfold.” Mark 4:8 NRSV

Welcome to the Candler School of Theology 2014 New Student Orientation website. Each year the Office of Student Programming staff spends countless hours planning for your arrival – ensuring that every detail is in place so that your experience at Candler starts well. We also spend time focusing on a theme for Orientation, one that reflects what we believe are the hopes and expectations for the Candler community.

This year, we are “yielding a hundredfold.” With the 100th anniversary of the Candler School of Theology upon us, we consider a century of seeds sown in the lives of students, staff, and faculty and in what ways those seeds will yield the promises of tomorrow.

This site is designed to give you all the information you need to orient yourself to Candler, Emory, and the greater metro Atlanta area. There is even a page for you to view our Instagram and Facebook feed (and tag your own pictures and posts with #CandlerOSP and #CST100). As the summer progresses, we will add more information to the site, so check back often!

Worship and Spiritual Formation

Worship and spiritual formation constitute a large part of life at Candler and in the Emory community as a whole. Worshipping together as a community of faith and learning, as well as developing individual spiritual practices, is an essential part of theological education. We engage in all kinds of spiritual formation, including off-site retreats and student-led worship experiences.  Click here to learn more about Worship and Spiritual Formation at Candler.
