Ford Foundation International Fellows Program

Description: Fellowships available for advanced study to exceptional individuals who will use this education to become leaders in their respective fields, furthering development in their own countries and greater economic and social justice worldwide. Applicants must be resident nationals or residents of an eligible IFP country or territory. Currently these are: Brazil, Chile, China, Egypt, Ghana, Guatemala, India, Indonesia, Kenya, Mexico, Mozambique, Nigeria, Palestinian Territories, Peru, Philippines, Russia, Senegal, South Africa, Tanzania, Thailand, Uganda, and Vietnam.

Grace Foundation Scholarship Fund

Deadline: January 31 (Request application by October 31)

Amount: Up to $4,000

Description: Scholarships available to students from China and other Southeast Asian countries. Applicants must have successfully completed one or more years of higher education with a minimum GPA of 3.0 and a TOEFL score of at least 500. Students must have the ability to express themselves clearly and to personally complete the application in English.

Margaret McNamara Memorial Grants

Deadline: Application must be requested before January 15; Application deadline: February 1

Amount: Up to $11,000

Description: Grants to women from selected developing countries who reside in the U.S. Students must demonstrate commitment to the problems and needs of women and/or children.

Qualifications:

  • students must plan to return to their home country within two years of receiving the grant
  • must demonstrate need for financial assistance to complete the course of study
  • twenty-five years of age or older
  • permanent residents are ineligible

PEO International Peace Scholarship

Deadline: December 15

Amount: Maximum award for twelve months of study is $10,000

Description: Scholarships are awarded annually to women students who are citizens of countries other than the U.S. or Canada for graduate study in the U.S. or Canada. (Doctoral students who have completed course work and are working on dissertations are not eligible. First-time applicants seeking assistance for less than one academic year will not be considered.)

Qualifications:

  • students must be admitted to a degree program by April 1
  • applicants must submit a witnessed statement that upon graduation they will return to their home countries to pursue professional careers
