Emory University’s Candler School of Theology is pleased to announce its fourth annual scholarship event, Leadership Candler, to be held March 3 – March 5, 2013, on Emory's campus in Atlanta. Successful applicants will be invited to experience Candler firsthand with all expenses paid. This event will help prospective Master of Divinity students discern their vocation more clearly and learn how Candler can deepen, challenge, and further inspire their calling to serve God.
Candler School of Theology is grounded in Christian faith and shaped by the Wesleyan tradition of evangelical piety, ecumenical openness, and social concern. We are known for our remarkable faculty and innovative curriculum. With the unique resources of a top-ranked research university and situated within a faithful Christian community, Candler offers students the opportunity to grow into effective leaders for Christian ministry and service.
Leadership Candler brings together a distinguished group of prospective Master of Divinity students from across the country and around the world who are active leaders within churches, on campuses, and across communities. We seek those who are ready to embark on the journey of a lifetime in theological education. The visit will include visits to classes, conversations with Candler's superb faculty, and a campus tour, including time at Pitts Theology Library, North America's premier theological library. Leadership Candler will also include interaction with current students and staff, group discussions, interviews with scholarship committees, and opportunities to spend time with future classmates.
Leadership Candler candidates must demonstrate confident and unselfish character combined with deep concern for others; intellectual achievement; impressive communication skills; significant leadership and creativity in school, church, or community; and a clear potential for enriching the lives of their contemporaries at Candler School of Theology. Most participants will have an undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or above.
