Smart Classrooms

Classrooms in the CST Building are equipped with several levels of audiovisual technology.  Individuals assigned to these rooms must receive training on the use of this equipment by contacting Candler School of Theology Media at 404.727.6340. Training takes about ten minutes.   At that time, the user will be given the security code necessary to access the equipment.

Scheduling

The cabinets in the smart podiums are electronically locked and unlocked.  They are scheduled to be unlocked during the following hours:  Monday - Thursday:  7:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m.;  Friday:  7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

A security deposit of $100.00 will be required through the provision of an account number or written check and will be returned if there are no damages to the system and the system has been properly shut down.

EQUIPMENT FUNCTIONS

Crestron Control System

Make classroom presentations using an Interactive Touch Panel. Switch between various media sources.  Control volume and screen position.

Dedicated PC with Network Connectivity

Use the computer in the podium to access Smartboard, Learnlink, the Internet, or Microsoft Office 2007.  Flash drive connection available on top of lectern.

Connections for Mac or PC Laptop

Hook up your laptop to the network, sound and projection system.

Smart Sympodium  **

Monitor with built in annotative capability utilizing Smartboard software and interactive pen.

VCR and DVD players

Play a VHS tape, DVD or CD.

Cable Tuner

Access Emory Cable TV

Audio System

Project sound from above formats through ceiling speakers in the room.

Document Camera

Project images including print materials, transparencies, and three dimensional objects and single slides.

Ceiling mounted data projector

Display images from any of the formats listed above.

Audio Only

Enables any of the sources in the console for audio playback without using the projectors.

** The following classrooms have two Smart Sympodiums and two ceiling mounted data projectors which will allow for simultaneous annotation on both dedicated PC dual images:  Rooms 252, 352, 401,  411, 421, and 501. 

Additionally, in Room 252 the lectern is equipped with a Marantz audio recorder.  Please consult our department and view the video tutorial for details.
