Candler School of Theology awarded degrees to its 171-member Class of 2010 at commencement exercises on Monday, May 10.
Following Emory University’s all-schools ceremony on the Quad, Candler convened its diploma ceremony at Glenn Memorial United Methodist Church. In her remarks to the graduates, Dean Jan Love echoed the words of Jesus in the Great Commission. She enjoined the graduates to “Go,” as Jesus commands his disciples in Matthew 28:16-20. “Go spread the good news of love, grace, hope, service, justice, sharing, and restored relationships….Go, even though you may feel like wavering even as you worship…Go…knowing you are equipped to lead and change the world,” she said.
Love recognized the class of 2010 as Candler’s largest graduating class in recent history. In all, there were four master of theological studies/Juris Doctor, 20 master of theological studies, 133 master of divinity, and 14 master of theology degree recipients
