The Candler Singers, a select group of skilled musicians from Emory University’s Candler School of Theology, will present “Emmanuel: God with Us,” Nov. 12 and 13 in Dahlonega, Gainesville, and Covington.
The concert will include church music from around the globe including classical, contemporary, folk, and spirituals.
The 20 singers, dancers, and instrumentalists of the Candler Singers are all seminary students preparing for a variety of ministries in the church, the academy, and the world. They represent several nations including South Korea, Congo, Canada, the British Virgin Islands, and the United States.
As musical representatives of Candler, the Singers have given performances at a wide range of churches, regional events, and denominational gatherings. They were a featured choir at the United Methodist General Conference in 2008 and will be in concert at the UM General Conference in Tampa this spring. Barbara Day Miller, Associate Dean of Worship and Music at Candler, is director of the Singers. John Richardson is music assistant and accompanist.
"Songs for All Seasons," the latest recording of the Candler Singers, will be available for purchase for $15 following the events.
